Goal
For my personal project I will use photography and research about sexual assault to create posters to raise awareness around the community.
Personal Interest
This is a subject close to my heart, as I have personal ties to sexual assault. And as someone who is incredibly invested in feminism and equal rights, it is a big issue in the US. When I graduate I plan to go into third world countries and help prevent human sex trafficking, and sexual abuse is a huge aspect of that. I am really inspired to help people, and even more inspired to help them overcome sexual assault, whether by a small awareness project here in school, or volunteering with Yobel (Yobel International empowers communities both in the Pikes Peak region and abroad to eliminate extreme poverty, unjust labor and human trafficking through business training and consumer education.) and working on the ground.
Global Context
I will be working in the Identities and Relationships, to explore the stigma and statistics surrounding sexual assault, and to present them to the community in a way that will connect them to the subject.
Criteria
- I will research extensively facts about sexual abuse and come up with different photos to match and highlight them
- I will organize a photo shoot with at least four different models and shoot shock factor photographs.
- I will edit the photos to professional standards and make them into posters that I can post around the community.
- The photos will have a title and a fact or saying, along with the name of my project, and the models must be credited.
